Amira Abouzahra
Kronberg Academy Professional Studies with Boris Garlitsky, funded by the Jascha Heifetz patronage
Hailed by Zubin Mehta as “one of the most outstanding talents of her generation,” violinist Amira Abouzahra is among the most compelling young artists on the international stage. Born in Germany in 2005, she made her solo debut at seven with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México and has since performed across twenty-five countries in venues such as New York’s Lincoln Center, Philharmonie Berlin, Covent Garden [MC1] London, Cairo Opera House and Royal Opera House Muscat.
She has collaborated with distinguished conductors and soloists including Zubin Mehta, Christoph Eschenbach, Vladimir Jurowski, István Várdai, András Keller, Kristóf Baráti, Mikhail Pletnev, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Maxim Rysanov, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Marc Bouchkov and Pablo Barragán, and has performed with the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, Concerto Budapest, Hungarian National Philharmonic, ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra Moscow, Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and Kremerata Baltica among others.
Amira is a laureate of numerous international competitions. She has won First Prize at the Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition in Budapest, the Arthur Grumiaux International Violin Competition in Brussels and the Oradea International Instrumental Competition. Other accolades include prizes and the Audience Award at the International Fritz Kreisler Competition and the Mayseder Competition, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra Special Prize, the Golden Star Award from the Stars and Awards competition[MC2] , the Silver Medal and Audience Award at Virtuosos V4+ 2020, and the Kodály Award and String Soloist Award at Austria’s isaFestival in Semmering.
In 2022, Charlotte White’s Salon de Virtuosi in New York awarded a Career Grant to Amira and her sister, violinist Mariam Abouzahra. In 2024, she received the Talent Award of the Cziffra Festival in Budapest and was named a scholarship recipient of the Swiss Career Advancement Program developed by the Günther Caspar-Stiftung. Most recently, in 2025, she was honoured with the Junior Prima Award, Hungary’s most prestigious distinction for young artists.
Festival highlights include an invitation as “string soloist” to the Verbier Festival, working with Augustin Dumay, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Guy Braunstein and Midori, and appearances at IMS Prussia Cove with Gerhard Schulz, András Keller, Claudio Martínez-Mehner and Dénes Várjon. She has also participated in masterclasses with Maxim Vengerov, Shlomo Mintz, Boris Garlitsky and members of the Vienna Philharmonic.
Amira began her violin studies at the age of four in Weinheim, Germany, with Alexander Gawrilenko, continuing with Gábor Homoki and Eszter Haffner. Since 2019, she has studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Professor Dora Schwarzberg and has been on the Professional Studies programme at Kronberg Academy since 2025.
Amira began her studies at Kronberg Academy in October 2025 with Boris Garlitsky. Her studies are funded by the Jasha Heifetz patronage.
