Foundation & legacy

Support Kronberg Academy and create joy!

The Kronberg Academy Foundation would not be viable without the financial support of people and institutions that share its objectives.

Foundations play a particularly important role here. Alongside collaboration with partners such as the Gidon Kremer Stiftung, the Board of the Kronberg Academy Foundation manages several trust foundations in the interests of generous benefactors, as it does, for example, with the Rostropovich Cello Foundation. Donations and legacies likewise enable people to make valuable contributions to strengthening the Kronberg Academy Foundation on a lasting basis for all its present and future activities.

Trust foundations

By setting up a trust foundation, you can easily become a founder yourself and formulate your own foundation objective. As your foundation is administered in trust by Kronberg Academy, the capital income will go undiminished to the support you specify.

The purpose of the Fondazione Casa Musica is to provide support for young musicians as well as to establish multigenerational living accommodation and a meeting place for musicians. It was set up by Dr Claus Becker in 2015. In 2016 the foundation acquired a large plot of land some 3,000 m2 in size in Kronberg together with a house that is now used by Kronberg Academy students as shared accommodation and a meeting point.

The Goltermann Cello Foundation was set up by Frank Goltermann in 2013. The foundation is dedicated to the memory of the Frankfurt cellist and great-great-grandfather of its benefactor, Georg Eduard Goltermann, and provides support, in particular, for the initial and further training of gifted next-generation cellists. For instance, travel scholarships are awarded to enable young cellists to take part in the Cello Masterclasses.

In keeping with Kronberg Academy’s objectives, in 1997 Mstislav Rostropovich established a foundation to provide support for new generations of highly gifted cellists. The Rostropovich Cello Foundation awards scholarships to outstanding cello students and makes it possible for up-and-coming young artists to practise and perform chamber music works with world-famous soloists. The Rostropovich Cello Foundation was set up with the support of the Deutsche Bank Foundation and continues to rely to a large extent on the support of committed donors.

Independent foundations

The Gidon Kremer Stiftung is a legally established foundation that works closely with the Kornberg Academy Foundation. The Gidon Kremer Stiftung is committed to providing all-round support for next-generation musicians. It also furthers the activities of the chamber orchestra Kremerata Baltica, enabling it to pass the tradition of classical and contemporary music on to the next generation and to take it to all levels of society in all parts of the world. At the request of its benefactor, Gidon Kremer, in 2008 the seat of the foundation was transferred to Kronberg. This has enabled close cooperation between the two institutions.
