Geigenbauatelier Wlk
This spring, Kronberg Academy is delighted to welcome Dominik Josef Wlk as Artist in Residence. After many years of close collaboration during our festivals and masterclasses, Dominik Wlk has now established his atelier at the Receptur in Kronberg im Taunus, creating a unique new centre for violin making at the heart of the Academy’s artistic life.
Internationally regarded as one of the foremost contemporary makers of string instruments, Wlk unites exceptional craftsmanship with artistic vision, remarkable tonal sensitivity, and a profound understanding of musicians’ needs. His work transcends traditional violin making: each instrument is conceived as a work of art, shaped through a close dialogue between sound, material, and performer. His atelier is therefore not merely a workshop, but an open creative space in which instruments are created, refined, and cared for in direct collaboration with artists — further enriching the culture of sound, craftsmanship, and musical excellence that defines Kronberg Academy.
