Cláudia Ribas

mezzo soprano

The mezzo-soprano from Portugal has been a member of the Frankfurt Opera Studio since the 2022/23 season. She made her debut there as the Third Lady in Ted Huffmann's new production of The Magic Flute. She followed this with performances as the Mother of Iseut the Blonde in Le vin herbé, as Cornelia (Giulio Cesare in Egitto), the Marquise of Alcobacca (The Bandits), and the Third Maid (Elektra). In the current season, she can be seen as Armindo in the new production of Handel's Partenope, as Nenila in Die Zauberin, and as a servant in Reimann's L’invisible.

In the summer of 2023, Cláudia Ribas completed her Master's degree at the Danish Royal Academy of Music. Previously, she studied voice at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and received private singing lessons in her home country.

In the fall of 2024, she won both the first prize and the Wagner Prize, the Audience Prize, and the Junior Jury Prize at the prestigious International Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch (IVC).
