Kronberg Academy warmly congratulates its Artistic Advisory Board member Sir András Schiff on being awarded the Praemium Imperiale 2025, the most important international art prize in the fields of music, painting, sculpture, architecture and theatre/film. The prize is awarded annually by the Japan Art Association and is regarded as the “Nobel Prize of the Arts”.
Sir András Schiff is one of the most outstanding pianists of our time. As a musician, mentor, thinker and internationally acclaimed interpreter, he has been closely associated with Kronberg Academy for many years – not least through his own concert series at the Casals Forum and his formative work on the Artistic Advisory Board.
With this award, Sir András Schiff joins an impressive line of recipients: Gidon Kremer and the late, unforgettable Mstislav Rostropovich – both members of the Artistic Advisory Board – have also been honoured with the Praemium Imperiale. In 2022, Kronberg Academy itself received the Praemium Imperiale Grant for Young Artists, an important recognition of its commitment to supporting young musical talent.
Live at the Casals Forum:
In the 2025/26 season, Sir András Schiff will once again appear at the Casals Forum, including on 26 October 2025 with Anja Mittermüller and Julian Prégardien, and in March 2026 for the festive opening of Kronberg Academy’s new piano series.
“The award for Sir András Schiff is also an award for Kronberg Academy – a sign of the artistic excellence and humanist spirit that unite us.”
— Raimund Trenkler, Founder and Director of Kronberg Academy
