- Junge Kantorei
Programme
The Junge Kantorei invites you to a special concert evening: the choir’s a cappella sounds meet the evocative cello music of Manuel Lipstein, accompanied by selected readings by philosopher and poet Samuel Kramer. Together, they open up a space in which music and words make the Advent season tangible from different perspectives.

From the Silk Road via Venice to Constantinople
From Tradition to the Present
The Bridges Chamber Orchestra presents one of its most successful programmes — performed, among others, at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg — in a new format: in this performative concert, the orchestra plays in full formation without a conductor. This allows the members of the orchestra to interact with one another independently and with a strong sense of individual responsibility. The result is great dynamism, energy and direct communication. At the same time, this communication reflects the centuries-old cultural exchange between East and West. Selected performative elements support both the orchestra’s verbal and non-verbal communication and the audience’s perception of moods and nuances.
The programme consists of arrangements and compositions connected to musical styles that developed along the historical Silk Road. In this region, which geographically stretches from the Mediterranean and Levant through Central Asia to East Asia, Europe exchanged not only a wide range of trade goods, but also knowledge, culture, musical instruments and musical traditions.
From tradition to the present: The concert begins with arrangements of Antonio Vivaldi’s famous La Follia and Hassan Kasaee’s Salam, well known in the Persian-speaking world — works in which musical tradition and region of origin are clearly recognisable. As the concert progresses, the orchestra members’ own compositions — some of them written collectively — become increasingly transcultural. Origin, tradition, present and future merge to create an entirely new sound.
