Magnificat+
Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat is one of the most beloved and successful works by the Leipzig composer. In the original version, performed during Advent in 1723, Bach included four Christmas hymns as short interludes between the movements. Now, the Hochtaunus Youth Choir has commissioned Swedish composer Mårten Jansson to write contemporary interludes that contrast with Bach’s baroque music and open up new sonic perspectives. The modern texts for these movements were written by American poet Charles Anthony Silvestri. Together with young soloists and the Pan Symphony Orchestra, the Hochtaunus Youth Choir will present the world premiere of this exciting fusion of two musical worlds at the Casals Forum in Kronberg. The composer himself will also be present to give a musical introduction to his work.
