Kronberg Academy Foundation

„… art in service of humanity“ (Pablo Casals)

Today, Kronberg Academy is considered one of the most important meeting and training places for music worldwide. Located in the heart of Europe, it is where exceptionally gifted young violinists, violists, cellists and selected pianists come together with the great artists of our time. By facilitating this, the Academy nurtures young talent with the aim of enabling its students to mature into artists who are aware of their responsibilities to both music and society.

Through its Casals Forum, in 2022 the Kronberg Academy Foundation created a home and a future for all its activities: teaching, studying and performance are united under the roof of an exceptional chamber music hall – the first concert hall capable of carbon neutral operation – and its adjoining study centre.

Here, students on the Kronberg Academy Study Programmes work intensively with leading musicians all year round. In addition, an abundance of concert events offer the young artists and their famous role models a chance to share the stage – and also give audiences the opportunity to immerse themselves in this special atmosphere.

Several times a year, Kronberg Academy also goes “on tour”. At the invitation of the world’s major concert halls, its young musicians perform together as an ensemble and act as ambassadors for Kronberg Academy.

In the Casals Forum, musicians and audience members experience preeminent music making at close quarters and as a collective. This goes hand in hand with opportunities that set out to bring all people closer to the very essence of music. Other art forms, science, industry and politics also meet with music here – so that it can help them in their quest for answers. It is a Forum where music provides inspiration.

A community of shared values, encompassing both committed artists and private sponsors, is the foundation upon which Kronberg Academy has been inspiring the music world for over 30 years. The philosophy of Pablo Casals, the great cellist and passionate champion of peace who believed that art, humanity and respect for nature are inextricably linked, is the guiding principle for all training and musical activities that take place at Kronberg Academy and the Casals Forum. So that music can gain in importance, and influence us towards interactions that are wise for people and our planet alike.
