From 16 to 22 November 2020, the fifth international Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann will take place in Berlin, organised by Kronberg Academy and Berlin University of the Arts. The renowned cello competition was initiated in 2002 in honour of Emanuel Feuermann, one of the 20th century’s greatest cellists. It has been under the patronage of Daniel Barenboim since its inception.
Applications are now being accepted from young cellists of any nationality born in or after 1992. These should be submitted online only, via the dedicated competition website www.gp-emanuelfeuermann.de. The winner will be awarded a prize of €15,000.
Daniel Barenboim says: “I hope that this competition awakens in the young cellists something of the musical spirit that Emanuel Feuermann brought into this world.”
