  • Kronberg Academy appoints three new teachers

Kronberg Academy welcomes three more eminent artists as members of its academic staff: Antje Weithaas (violin), Tabea Zimmermann (viola) and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt (violoncello) will start teaching in the Kronberg Academy study programmes in October 2017.

The Kronberg Academy study programmes (previously Kronberg Academy Masters) were launched in 2007 and are regarded as the global leaders among university programmes for young soloists. In cooperation with Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, they offer some 20 students a musical education that is specifically tailored to their individual needs. Alumni include Vilde Frang, Alina Ibragimova, Yura Lee and Marie-Elisabeth Hecker. Kronberg Academy faculty members have so far included Ana Chumachenco, Mihaela Martin and Christian Tetzlaff for the violin, Nobuko Imai for the viola and Frans Helmerson for the cello. Two members of the Artistic Council, Gidon Kremer and Sir András Schiff, are also actively involved in the Academy students' study schedule and join them in public performances.

"Kronberg Academy is proud to have appointed three of the outstanding performers and educationalists of their generation as additional teachers," is the emphatic view of Friedemann Eichhorn, director of the study programmes.

Kronberg Academy is supported by Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach, Sir Simon Rattle and other leading professionals.
