About the Cello Master Classes & Concerts

  • First held in 1994
  • Every two years
  • Kronberg

Sponsored by  accenture

Providing promotional opportunities and training for highly gifted young musicians is Kronberg Academy's primary mission. Every two years - in alternation with the Violin Masterclasses & Concerts - cello masterclasses are held to give exceptionally talented young musicians an opportunity to study and rehearse pieces for concert performance with internationally renowned cellists. The tuition sessions are open to the public.

Kronberg Academy's multifaceted sponsorship programme is complemented by the €5,000 Landgrave of Hesse Prize, the Leyda Ungerer Music Prize and the Boris Pergamenschikow Scholarship, which are all awarded during the Cello Masterclasses & Concerts. For the winners of the Landgrave of Hesse Prize, the Leyda Ungerer Music Prize and the Ingrid zu Solms Culture Prize, an added bonus is that they will be scheduled to play alongside world-famous artists as part of the Cello Festival (Kronberg Academy Festival) the following year.

These activities highlight Kronberg Academy's influential role as an international platform for the support and encouragement of up-and-coming young artists.
