About Young People in Concert
  • First held in 2004
  • Every year
  • For youngsters aged between 11 and 18
  • Patron: Prof. Monika Grütters, Staatsministerin für Kultur und Medien

The aim of Kronberg Academy's Young People in Concert initiative is to arouse young people's interest in classical music and dispel any anxiety about setting foot in a concert hall by allowing them to experience the thrill of a live concert. That is why, during one of its events, Kronberg Academy invites youngsters aged between 11 and 18 years to a gala concert for a token admission price. This gives young people the opportunity to hear live performances by top soloists and conductors, as well as renowned orchestras, in such concert halls as the main auditorium of the Frankfurt Alte Oper.
The initiative was started, in collaboration with Otto Schily, during the International Pablo Casals Cello Competition in 2004 and takes place once a year during one of Kronberg Academy's major events under the patronage of the incumbent Federal Minister of the Interior.
